 LEADING to the NORTH EAST

Listening to Claire Amos - around importance of Relational pedagogy and learning pit

Learning Pit video James Nottingham

Learning Pit from James Nottingham:

Wow Tourist - Not leaving it there but going deeper into questioning - What makes a capital?

Deeper Concept  - injustice, inequality, Knowledge, Name, lives

Concept: how we look at it? think and question - What makes a capital city? Is it always the largest city?

Conflict:  Tourism - 1. Tourism - Is it only people that travel or include other professions like a teacher.

Effective teaching and learning - Relational pedagogy

  • Importance of Relationships are key - only as effective with teachers who have high expectation and teaching skills.
Teaching to the North east
  • Developing a warm environment
  • High expectations
  • Warm and demanding - Family environment for your staff as much as possible

Although it is important around wellbeing although having high expectations for our students.

  • I owe it to staff to be authentic -
...CLEAR IS KIND UNCLEAR IS UNKIND...

..How to re-engage our kids, no deficit discourse Believe... Believing and holding people into account

..The standard I walk past is the standard I expect..
If you are willing to walk past average then thats the expectation.

...Understanding change isn't hard change is uncomfortable...

Support change

Transparency Annual plan

like how it is simple to follow one pager see clear around the outcomes actions and goals. How well do staff understand the annual plan - High level strategy....

Trickle down approach - Annual plan shared with the whole staff - SLT - responsible for each pillar- strategic targets - work plan relates to performance appraisal - term by term break down - term 4 review phase - 2021- As SLT write into the document they have an expectation and understand the accountability high agency - SLT feel confident around being on track...

Critical feedback:
